High Tech and High Fashion are coming together in wearables – Appearance – Human Movement

The last couple of years there has been much progress in the area of portable technology. Unfortunately these gadgets don’t look very fashionable. That is why companies from the technology sector are increasingly starting to collaborate with the fashion industry.

For example the fashionbrand Ralph Lauren has marketed a shirt which keeps track of your breathing, heart rate and how many calories you have burned. In the fabric of this black shirt, silver coated wires are woven. These wires are connected to a small Bluetooth device, this device sends the data to an app on your phone or iPad so you can see exactly what result you have booked during your workout.

Not only in the field of clothing but also the world of jewelry a lot is happening

Rebecca Minkoff, designer of bags and jewelry, collaborates with Case-Mate. This is a company that makes protective cases for phones. During the New York Fashion Week, They presented a collection of stylish gadgets. The collection contains among other things a golden phone charger and a bracelet with studs that you can use as USB cable.

I think it is very cool that technology and fashion are collaborating more and more often. I am very interested in gadgets like the Apple Watch and Google Glasses. Fashion makes these gadgets look more usable and a part of our every day life.
